Polished yellow gold, beautifully bright and inviting. Nose has waxy lanolin and honey, this bottle is in outstanding condition. The palate has absorbed the oak and the fruit is glowing, a powerful rich wine at its peak - oaky - absolutely!, but this is beautifully fresh and carries it beautifully. Rich, powerful and impressive - the wine - not me!

Drank this beside a 2009 Beaucastel Blanc and this just crushed the Beaucastel. It's an interesting comparison in that both wines attempt to eliminate, as much as possible, the influence of varietal by using many, in the hope that the expression of terroir will become the focus of the wine. I think for both wines this is accomplished, but the Remelluri was still very fresh and expressive, where the Beaucastel seemed tired and over the hill.

Fascinating wine, with the nice balance of minerality and richness I've had in other Remelluris - though less floral and tropical than I expected. This one also had a bit more funk and wet wool on the nose that started out a pleasant aspect but ended up taking over and killing the wine after 45min or so in the glass. Not sure what that means.

HDH auction tasting at Tru (Chicago, IL): A somewhat tropical nose, with lots of ripe fruit (a la white pineapple). This is definitely much bigger in body, with a touch of oak. There's lovely minerality and acidity here, as well as some white pineapple flavours. I was very pleasantly surprised by this -- it's really tasty and zesty, though it really isn't what I think of when someone says white Rioja.

Rioja-Pink, White and Red (San Francisco Wine Trading Company): Deep yellow. Honey, banana and vanillin aromatics. Rich, lots of vanilla oak, herbs and citrus. Very interesting but not as good as the first time I tried this-not quite as lively and much more defined by wood on the finish.
