Winex, $10 years ago. Has turned into an interesting little wine; pleasantly austere. No real depth, and I'd never peg it as grenache -- carignan dominated blend? But went will with some grilled beef...

Bought 4b for 12/b from Wine Library 1+ years ago. Decanted with normal sediment for its age--glad I didn't skip that. Dark purple, nose initially reticent but emerged into rich red fruit in half hour, very good mouthfeel with mature red fruit. Delicious Garnacha. Stored horizontally in a cool, dark basement since purchase. My evaluation: I've stopped giving scores on a "100-point scale" as I've become less convinced that they can be meaningful to others. I use a 4-category scale (perhaps with +/-)--not including flawed--which runs outstanding/notable/drinkable/poor. I considered this notable+ when considering quality, age, and price.

What a nice wine. Notes of black fruits, cherry, tar, espresso, spice, oak and tannins. Tasty with all the food and especially with the pulled pork and with the beef meatballs. At Gina and Ilene’s New Year’s Day feast.

Surprised by this wine....came off a bit oaky and spicy at first but really integrated and opened up with air.
