If blind, 2007 Rhone from Chateauneauf du Pape, in the lane of something like Clos de Papes. High stewed fruit profile on the cusp of pruney, with hints of char and warm indian spice. Long, long dry finish filled with fruit and pull. Very nice ending to each sip. Drink sooner than later, its 100% peaked for my taste.
* Held up great on day 2, allowing the 94 score.

This has come a long way since my last note in 2016 (for better or worse). Ready to go now and possibly entering a sort of decline. Ripe sweet fruit dominant with an almost stewed element to it. Toasted oak, vanilla, anise, and chalky cassis. Alcohol is exposed on the finish and really takes away from the package. Indistinguishable from a Paul Hobbs Napa Cab.

Finally started to open up after being open all day and decanted 5 hours. Still a baby with tons of acid and tannin. Big flavors of toasted vanilla and sticky black fruit are balanced by graphite and burnt earth.

N: deep brooding nose, dark fruits, perfume, violettes, cedar P: deep black blue & red fruits. Blackberries, cherries, blueberries, herbs, sweet tannins, cocoa. F: cocoa, cherries, plum cola. A winner.

Decanted 2 hours, paired with grilled vegetables and steak, rocket/parmesan salad with lemon vinaigrette.
Beautiful dark fruit, elegant balance, already integrated.
World Class, youthful Malbec.
