I'm not going to get into all the details of my note from 8/6/2014... this wine still has all those funky and weird notes. This is a very fun, interesting wine for sure. That said, I'm simply not enjoying it as much as I was two years ago. It's a combination of simply not being as interested in this flavor profile, but also I do think it's not quite as exciting and well integrated as it was in its youth. You definitely have to be in the mood for this much funky complexity to go with this wine. I don't find myself in that mood too much.

Absolutely marvelous! What a QPR. Aromas are spicy and delicious, thick briar, sap, medicinal notes, a cut red chili pepper, all with a slight undertone of poopy barn floor... but the nice thing here is the intensity of those other flavors really elegantly balances the barn. It really caresses the nostrils. Thick palate texture which immediately is massive in its red apple, pear, and currant fruit, but is balanced beautifully with rich acid and minerality cutting hard. The more you aerate the more acid and moderate tannin develop. Quite a bit of funky peppers dial up on the finish with another massive wall of acidity ramping up with that barn note. Just so rich and coating on the palate with an intensity that stays with you for over a minute. An absolutely stellar wine for the price, and got better over the two hours I drank it. I think this will hold together fine for upwards of 5 years, but I see no reason not to plow through these now as they are incredible and a perfect balance of freshness and funk.

Pepper, blackberry, funk, loamy soil. Brooding and dark, yet juicy, dense meaty berry flavor with undercurrent of scorched wood that finishes with bitter tannins. Rather raw, should be a great sleeper for the cellar.

Very leather nose with burnt black fruit. Purple hue with red rim. Good tannin and lots of mid palate leather with little fruit. Aftertaste has not great length but some at least, again leather but now some black tar like fruit, perhaps a black licorice profile but without the anise element. If you like a leather note in your wine and don't care a lot about obvious fruit forward ness then this negrette grape wine may be for you. I enjoyed it more with a lamb pasta sauce than with chicken and vegetables, though it was good with turkey chili too.

Spicy sweet barn yard, hot compost; medium body, mixed tart black berries and spicy fruit; intense, funky, black earth, rich, chewy medium plus tannins. Fantastic and a fun ride.
