Dark garnet in the glass with a tiny clear meniscus. Ripe blackberry on the nose, touch of bramble and menthol lurking behind, very appealing. A bit more muddled on the palate, low acid, lots of black fruit, some cedar, and a hint of tannins on the finish.

Needed 45 minutes in the glass. Too much Oak during first 30 minutes, but it became more resolved within the hour and not out of balance. Slightly tangy overripe red fruits layered with blackberries. Touches of eucalyptus, green veggies and dried herbs. Smooth tannins.

(Force Majeure Collaboration Series V Red Wine Ciel du Cheval Red Mountain) Dark in color. This wine is locked up tightly right now with dark fruit, cocoa, and toasty spices. The palate packs a huge wallop of dark fruit with well-integrated tannins that are built for the long haul. This is a colossal wine that should be put far back in the cellar or given an extended decant. 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. Aged in French oak (100% new). 14.6% alcohol. 120 cases produced. Winemaker Chris Gorman. Note: To be released Fall 2012.

Great peppery nose with a hint of blackberry that comes through on the palate with some casis. Great pairing for steak.
