Allowed to breathe in a bottle for 90 minutes before approaching. Wine seeped up the bottom fifth of the cork, and was heavily crystallized.
Bordeaux-like nose of musty cellar walls offset by ripe dark fruit; A nice mix of old and new world. Wine really shows its age on the palate with mature fruits well-integrated into a fading back bone. Wouldn’t wait wait much longer to drink this, but it’s really good right now. We enjoyed this both before dinner and with our three hour smoked tri-tip. This could go beautifully with any steakYeah still enjoyable on its own.
Would not decant this, nor would I recommend drinking beyond 2022 for optimal enjoyment, at least based on this bottle which was a gift from good friends.
Thanks Ben and Kim!

Popped and poured. This wine showed on the thin side, rather plain. Parker described it as “deep yet also weightless” and gave it a 93 point score… well one out of two I agree with. This Cab is weightless, especially on the palate, but depth? I don’t discern that aspect. Plums and some dark berry fruit show but the wine is thin, really lackluster for the money and rather basic and if this was about half the price, I would call the wine good at best. There is just not a lot to talk about here, especially considering the price point. Not impressed.

Third of the blind red wines at this quarter's S&E Wine Club, which for red was either Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc or Merlot from either Rutherford or Stags Leap District. Thanks Dave and Jenna!
Dark ruby core with garnet edges. Candied cherries on the nose with dark cocoa and a touch stinky. Medium plus tannins (6.5/10) and medium plus to full bodied. Layered palate with dark berries, spices, bramble berries and black cherries. Long and lingering finish. A bit stern even with a four and a half hour decant. Drink till 2027.

Excellent. Decanted it for two hours and it was silky smooth. A fabulous nose and nice color.

Nice solid cab. Smooth, with muted fruit. Nothing special here
