Aromas are a mix of old leather and stewed plums with blackberry and cloves. Charred oak notes add great complexity Delicious wine drinking nicely now and could cellar 5+ more years.

Pretty mediocre, though might have waited too long. One dimensional, thin, and short. Nice nose - kind of old school. But palate leaves a lot to be desired.

This was an interesting comparison side by side with a 1997 Trefethen Reserve. The '09 was full of bright fruit, raspberry, black cherry with a touch of oak on the finish. Tannins were present but not overwhelming. A medium finish. A nice bottle of wine but pricey at $110 from the winery. The '97 while fading was more complex and layered.

May have waited a bit too long on this. Not much fruit on the palate. Mostly vegetal notes but frankly a bit flat and one dimensional.

Delicious. Glad I waited to allow the fruit to integrate.
