Surprisingly like a tawny port, not what I recall from tasting before adding the bottle to the cellar several years ago. Very drinkable on its own or paired. Berries on the long finish.

Black raspberry, lovely fruit up front on the nose and palate without being syrupy at all. Pleasure wine for sure, not witholding any mysteries. Pleased most palates at party. Doesn't require food to be enjoyable. No bumpiness on the finish with alcohol not apparent, and tannins being quite soft.

Stewed red fruit, raspberry and strawberry sauce on the nose; red raspberry confit on the palate. A little over extracted at this point, but still tasty. More like a dessert wine, with a port-like finish.

It had been a year since I last tried this wine, and some cellar time really did great things for it. It was still a very fruit driven and forward wine, but it was much more open and accessible, as opposed ot monolithic. The red fruit was transparent enough to allow some dusty/earthy elements come into play as well. I really enjoyed this a lot, and it made a great match with a medium-rare ribeye steak!
