  • Drinking exceptionally well right now! While good on cork pull, it really started to come together after 30 min in the glass. Rich, thick dark fruit, ample acidity, well integrated tannins and med-long finish. While likely at or close to its peak, it should go for a few more years.

  • From magnum. Great wine—still showing well.

  • let breathe in glass for 30 mins...improves over the 2 hour window of drinking...thick, rich, integrated, cherries, blue fruits, cinnamon, tobacco...

  • And just like that, my Gargiulo inventory has been reduced about 33%. This wine is in a good spot, although not quite as black fruit dominant as the one I opened up about 18 months ago but more reminiscent of the one I opened up 3 months ago. This is the end of the road for my 2010 Gargiulo MRR Cabs. This one was 1/2 sweet black cherry cough drop, 1/2 blackberry. Herbal, dried wildflowers, rose petals, dried nuts, and finished with softened yet still present oak tannin. Out with a bang!

  • My previous 93 with this 95 sort of averages out this wine to where it needs to be. Smack dab at a 94 although I want so bad to rate this a 95. This wine has integrated beautifully, and is in my opinion right at the peak of drinking. Nose of toasted oak, blackberry, cassis. The entry of this wine is full-bodied, displaying blackberry, graphite, cinnamon, oak. The middle displays some black licorice characteristics. Finishes with a lot of black pepper on a blackberry and toasted oak tannin which has softened perfectly. I just don't see how additional aging will make this one drink as well as it was drinking tonight with minimal decant time. Drink up and enjoy folks!
