  • Cocoa on the nose? High alcohol, hot on the finish. Oaky.

  • Pleasant wine, with medium body, good balance and easy drinking. However, I prefer bigger and more tannic Napa cabs. But none the less...a decent wine for the price and my wife really enjoyed it.

  • Bought on a recommendation from friend. Good cab with nice fruit and balance. Didn't wow me but was a very solid wine.

  • Recommended at Total Wine Fort Worth. And, ok, this is a good quaffing wine, as it doesn't really have too much of anything, but it surely has a lot of heat. Not too sure I'd call it 90+ though. The cork was intact, not corked. I can't remember the stain, but it didn't bleed through. The wine was initially decanted for the initial glass. The rest was bottle decanted for 2 hours and enjoyed. Pre 2-hour decant, this wine had a great floral, blackberry, and plum bouquet. The flavor on the palate was alcohol, blackberry, alcohol, some leather, alcohol, some wildflower, and finished almost like a shot of brandy. Post 2-hour bottle decant, this wine was much more approachable. The nose was giving the same things, but without so much heat. I was getting blackberry jam, black licorice, and shoe leather on the front, with a happy go lucky backbone that was perhaps some rose petal? I guess the cab franc really kind of entered here. The mid-palate was a hint of cocoa and some earth. Finished a little earthy and with some black pepper spice, with some finer grit. Moderately tannic. A good bottle of wine after a couple of hours, but I wouldn't say that Vinturi decanting really did much to open this one up - it just needed some time. Trending more towards full bodied than medium bodied, this one probably will integrate over the next 4-5 years. If I had more, I'd probably revisit in 1-2 years.

  • A stellar offering from Cobblestone. Like much of the 2009 vintage, it can be consumed now, but unlike some of the others it does not lose its edge after a few hours. Rich mouthfeel with boysenberry and black plum notes.
