La Creu Alta is a blend of 65% old-vine Carinyena, 30% Syrah and 5% Garnacha: plum, tobacco, soft cedar, fig note, blackberry, licorice, black fruit, full body, powerful long aftertaste.

Very dark purple colored, nearly black. Medium intense and a bit rustic nose with ripe dark berries. Ripe blackberries, black currant, dark cherries, espresso, dried tobacco and dusty earth. Full bodied with a medium intense acidity. Very dense and masculine style. Good fruit depth. Nice overall complexity and a good balance. The finish is dark, dry and long. This bottle felt a bit more rustic than my last bottle back in 2021. In my opinion this one is already a bit past its prime. Drink up within the next few years. (IG)

Had that rustic but deep Priorat profile, with mulled raspberries buried in briary thickets. Really enjoyable, though just a touch hot. I felt it was very good for the price I paid, which seems to be roughly half the market price. But if I had to pay full price, I'd buy two bottle of Mas Doix's second wine, Salanques, which has a very similar profile to my taste.

Eðalklúbburinn in Catalunya; 9/3/2017-9/9/2017 (Catalunya): Almost black in colour. Initially more closed than the 2007 Creu Alta. After a while very fresh bouquet started to emerge. Dark fruits and berries. Also some minerals and oily tones, garage. On the tongue very fresh. Tannins and acid are already integrated. Dark fruit, licorice and sage can be found. Polished and elegant wine. Only downside is the price tag, 80€.
