Christmas WIMPs - Burgundy II (La Trompette, Chiswick): Deep garnet. Nose is developed, rich, earthy with underlying sweet red fruit. Medium/full on the palate, soft, even silky tannins, lovely sweet red fruit, savoury game, very good length harmonious finish. Drinking beautifully. ****1/2.

Vosne v Vosne-side Nuits (La Trompette, London): Blind. Deep garnet. Mellow spice on the nose. Spice and deep red fruit on the attack. A little lactic on the mid palate. Still quite grippy and bright with acidity. Needs to relax a little. Prefer the nose to the palate currently. ***

a wonderful wine. light red to red in color. a couple of people at the tasting thought there was an off-putting note but it blew off. fine cherry fruit up front followed by leather and spice with good acid and a reasonable length finish. still more to the young side. its overall structure should allow further improvement over the next 5 to 10 years.

Better than the Reignots of the same vintage...Yet, fell apart pretty quickly and didn't offer the level of complexity I was looking for. Great aromatics.
