WB Dinner in Santa Cruz (Home Soquel): What a lovely bottle wow. Well concentrated, lovely acidity, such a perfumed nose, first of red fruit, earth, and dying roses. Surprisingly sweet, slightly fading...
BUT the great surprise to us all was that the wine seemed to come to life about an hour in, with a renewed sense of freshness. Dying roses turned to fresh strawberry, and the light fruit came through on the palette without losing any of the palette complexity. What a gift.

Definitely lives up to the legend of Burt Williams. This is obviously cold north coast California with plenty of sun and transparent terroir. All the right touches of the winemaker. Inspiring enough to purchase some pre-97 Williams Selyem.

Finally opened up my last bottle of MDR. I've been putting off this day for as long as possible but CT says the "drink by" date has come and gone. Whatever... I think this wine could go another year or two.
Given that this was Burt Williams last MRD vintage (and this was my last bottle) I held out for a long as I could before opening it. The wine was a solid effort and is best characterized as a classic north coast Cali pinot noir. The nose still has lots of fruit and the overall feel was smooth and easy to drink. Lots of fruit with a tinge of acidity. I wish I had another bottle or two lying around, but c'est la vie!

Duck Four Ways at The Spread in Norwalk (The Spread in South Norwalk): Decanted for 90 minutes. Another strong showing for this wine. Nose of cranberry, cherry, mint and a touch of earth. Flavors of cherry, cranberry, earth and raspberry. Ends with a 30 second finish with cherry notes.
