  • Too much oxidation, rough tannins but shows some nice spicy texture in the middle. Very little aromatic interest and or excitement. Conveys a drying impression.

  • (From a reconditioned bottle) a dark profile of soy, coffee, chocolate mixed with damp soil, wet birch tree, cedar chest and antique furniture. Oddly enough, the sous bois aromas are not quite to forefront yet, indicating there is no rush on this bottle (cork was very new). This doesn’t quite have the layering of other ‘69 Remoissenet village wines tasted lately but does provide a good character, adequate complexity and richness. The palate seems a bit dried out with drier tannins and a clipped finish.

  • Garnet colored with modest clear rim; earthy and meaty on the nose; dark cherry fruit with a slight "menthol" character mid-palate, very soil-inflected and spicy. This seemed almost too youthful, almost aggressive. One of the reconditioned bottles. Hmmm....

  • Similar experience to the first bottle, very nice quality for its level but who knows what's in it!? Lots of cinnamon spice, game, autumn leaves, soy sauce and introduces relatively rich, plump and lush flavors in the mouth. Definitely seems to have more mid-palate fat than the '78 Remoissenet Chambolle-Musigny AC (which I have also enjoyed). I would like to see a little more aromatic focus and clarity but the quality material is certainly present and may just indicate that these reconditioned bottles require more time in the bottle to adjust.

  • By all appearances, a reconditioned bottle: Best part of this is the gorgeous spicy fruited nose; beautiful richness of fruit yet clearly an older wine. Nice balance and structure helps support a very pleasant finish.
