Very hot year in the Douro which produced wines (in theory) not designed for long ageing. Cloudy in the eyes with macerated ripe fruit, rock rose and a chemical edge (sort of interesting). It's full of life in it but a bit disjointed, with some spiky sour tannins though still somehow pleasureble and structured. It's hard to say if it's going downhill or still needing more time to gain the balance missing at this point. The energy is there for the waiting just can't say if it will lead the wine to better shores.

A blend of Tinta Roriz, Tinta Amarella, Touriga Nacional. Touriga Franca and Sousao. This wine has held up well over 16 years. A cherry/raspberry nose. Raspberry fruit on the palate with pepper and rare meat. The fruit is still bright, but starting to fade. Very fine tannins, acidity has crept slightly out of balance. Short finish. This was probably better a few years ago, but still gives pleasure.

All the Pro's were wrong about the drinking window of this wine! This wine was one of the 2-3 favorites from 11 blind tasted reserve wines, including a CDP Beaucastel & Don Melchor!! It is aromatic and very smooth. It changed and improved continuously for four hours. Red to black fruits with spice, anise, and menthol notes. The tannins have softened, but it still has some shelf life. A wonderful dry red from Portugal. in 2005 it was #27 in the WS Top 100.

This was a surprising wine. I thought it might be over the hill so I popped and poured and was hit by the aromatic nose of graphite, and tabacco. Wine is still very fresh and vibrant with a long finish. Very nice and will last several more years

Tannins have softened considerably. This is a viscous, velvety textured red with strong blackberry, dark chocolate, mocha flavor. Popped and poured -- in glass one half hour. Nose is a bit muted, but I assume this will improve and open up in the next day or so. Long finish. Unique & enjoyable, but ready to drink. Have 3 bottles left & will be interesting to see how long this holds up, but this vintage is about when Portugal started to assert themselves with reds beyond Port. Really nice effort!!
