  Super simple. Even a tad boring. But crazy clean. I've had better bottles of this (maybe late release?) Doesn't live up to the structure of the vintage, but very solid nonetheless.

  open, decanted and re-bottled 10 hours before dinner. Colour on the dark orange and quite clear. The nose was slightly oxydized at opening and then stabilized to ripe cherry marinated in alcohol, and some spices, like pepper and clove . Structure was still alive with bright acidity. Not a lot of nuances nor special elegance in the wine, but still enjoyable and a tribute to this vintage's endurance. We had a good time, for sure.
  I don't believe this wine was ever a very complex and refined one, but it does come from the Marenca and Rivette estate, besides Margheria, and now for the last 40+ years in the hand of a famous winery producing there extremely premium wines. this explains the longevity.

  Fully mature but surprisingly lively and dark. Fruit still fully intact and not oxydized, still some tannins, harmonious. Not super long or complex but very good.

  took a while to blow off and then became enjoyable towards the end, had soapy undertones that i couldn't get past. next time will do a much longer decant, probably 3+ hours

  This bottle had an exceptionally solid cork. The wine was browning as expected, but after 30 minutes the fruit started to really bloom and the wine gained more weight throughout dinner. A full tablespoon of this sediment. Silky smooth. Lovely red fruits with some black fruits, earthiness and hints of clove. An extra point for ageworthiness of this 55 year old beauty.
