This red is quite feminine. Although there is easily noticeable new oak in the flavor line up the wine overall is fruit forward, thin bodied, and delicate. It's main plus point is it isn't annoyingly sweet. I would recommend this for those who aren't aware they are addicted to the overly sweet American reds in a hope they can use it as a stepping stone to greater heights.

Found this on sale (20$) so why not give it a go. Im not used to Washington wines - I've lived near Napa Valley, so thats my preference for good wine. The store clerks told that washington is a better climate for wine, as it is colder and drier, like France. Such sentences (the kind that carries the presumption that French wine is best) always makes me skeptical, as I think Napa makes better Bordeaux wines than Bordeaux does. And my skeptism was right. Its a lighter, more acidic, and thinbodied wine. It has some oak character to give it texture that I like. My FIL liked this more than Beringer Quantum that I served for chistmas, which he found too sweet. Lucky him as this costs 1/3 of the Quantum which I thought was amazing. I think that I will go straight for Dunn's "Feather", to give Washington another chance next time.

Asked the spouse to bring home a bottle of wine for the spaghetti sauce. He bought 2 bottles of this, one to taste first. "No use ruining the sauce if its crap" he said. :-/ Through the vinturi into the decanter for 45 minutes. In the glass: Deep magenta, slow thin legs. On the nose: Hot tart cranberries, minerals, smoke, tea leaves. In the mouth: Medium mouth feel, good concentration of tart cherry, tart cranberry, chewy tannins in the middle, weak finish. I detect some malbec? Meh, not horrible but not remarkable either. It was a nice gesture, but not the flavor profile for Italian spaghetti sauce made from my garden 'maters. I'll tell him to get a nice bottle of chianti. :) Retail $10
The smell the alcohol dominates the nose, overpowering any fruit. The palate pings of rhubarb pie, cranberries, unripe strawberries, charcoal, chocolate and oak. Have had much better Washington wines, and have even had much better wines from Trader Joe's.

A decent wine, simple, bold color moderately intense on the nose with alcohol, drier virtually no sweetness of fruit. However I kept sipping.
