  • Held up remarkably well, and not in ideal conditions. I could have written exactly the comment written by deBare on 2/12/2021, right down to the split cork.

  • Very rich with a velvety mouth feel. Medium amount of sediment. Dark fruits

  • starts oaky and smoky with coffee bean notes and then there's a smoked-vanilla bean component that keeps showing up. There is also plenty of oak throughout with a long finish that really is just like drinking liquid cedar and oak ... but as it opens it gathers some momentum and more character and it ends up being a deep mocha flavoured wine. Look, this one is not horrible, because I kept going back to the glass for another taste - so it's got something going for it

  • I was fortunate that fellow CT member deKerf strongly persuaded me to pick up seven (7) bottles of this wine when it was first available. It had a great QPR at just $24 CAD. It's also held up well over the past decade even though the best-by-date was 2018. I was a little concerned when the cork snapped in half as I pulled it out. But there were no issues other than a few pieces of cork that I filtered out. Its garnet-colour and medium legs offered aromas of red currant, fig, cherry and mineral. The taste was similar but more muted than the 'hot' nose. The medium body and acidity paired nicely with rich beef stroganoff. I bid a fond farewell to this final bottle. Cheers.

  • 5 years after my last tasting it remains consistent if not even more port like. Fig, plum, dark cherry flavours. Tannins perfectly integrated. Still sweet notes but less much less off putting now than 5 years ago. Very enjoyable.

Wife usually rests to sulphites but had no problems with this wine.
