Opened and consumed, this very dark wine showing a mature, restrained nose of mixed blacks, licorice, oolong tea, humidity and saddle leather. Very smooth, merlot influences abound. Slightly tart but overall very nice velvet feel. Day two + still holding, if not slightly better and fuller.

This is a very rare bottle of claret offered only to club members. 30 minute decant in bottle, paired with ravioli and broccolini. Medium red thinning at the edges. This claret displays varietal aspects on the nose of dusty grained black cherry from the cab franc, with cedar and cumin. Superb aromatics typical of a well made blend. On the palate there's ample sweet acidic fruit still, with much of the cedar showing through on the finish. Well balanced if not slightly acidic, with tart cherry and cranberry on a finish of decent length. Day two has fleshed out, much richer and fuller, the aromatics sloughing off much of the cedar with oxidized black fruits instead. The taste is much better structured - the acidity has gone into hiding and dark lush fruit has taken it's place. Overall, this is showing much better than previous notes would indicate. Certainly not over the hill, probably at the end of its prime drinking window but will hold for a while longer.
The Pegasus on the label by Odilon Redon, c.1890, honors the Winged Horse of Grek Mythology whose hooves unleashed the mythical Spring of the Muses, giving birth to wine and art. Produced especially for the Pegase Circle club, this Claret reflects the care and dedication inherent to producing small, handcrafted lots of wine.

Earthy with strong hints of fruit but less than I had expected. The wine had very soft tannins and lost flavor an hour or 2 after opening. Decanted for an hour before drinking. Still was good, if you have it, I would drink it now.

Fruity and reminiscent of a Bordeaux, but uninspiring. Slow to open.
