We've cellared this reasonable mid-market Malbec for a couple of years. Nose is great with strong cocoa and vanilla bean elements, and a little cigar smoke component that develops later. It's full and creamy on the tongue, slightly tannic as it develops. The chocolate and vanilla bean drive this not terribly fruity wine that warms you the whole way down as a good winter wine should.

Ever since Malbec became a popular varietal, we've been flooded with thin, sour, high-alcohol wines that lack fruit and have little to offer. This wine is a pleasant change - a nice, chewy Malbec that tastes like what Malbec should taste like! Dark color with an assertive, complex nose; blackberry, leather, tobacco. Deep, satisfying berries on the palate, hints of licorice and plum. Just a bit hot on the finish, but good, firm tannins and enough acidity to keep things in balance. A really first-rate wine at a very modest price. This is tough enough to last at least another two years, but seems to be peaking now.

The wine has low acidity. It smells like diacetyl (butter) and blackberry. The body is medium. The wine finishes medium. It tastes like oak, blackberry, black pepper, cherry and jasmine leaves. The wine looks garnet colored. The legs are medium. There is no sediment in the bottle. The wine has oily texture.

Not a ton on the nose and alcohol was a little harsh initially, but developed into a nice malbec. Medium bodied, with Good ripe fruit.
