Lovely. Gobs of dark red fruit, wrapped in velvet, sprinkled with hints of mineral, meatiness and herbs. Great label art as well. Though I believe this particular bottling has been discontinued, sadly. Good rich red right here! Probably another 3 years to drink it, but now is a good time as well.

We tried 3 Shiraz wines from Red Car, and they were all great. What's even more interesting is that each wine was served in two glasses. Glass 1: Opened btl one week ago. Glass 2: Opened and decanted some hours ago.
2009 The Fight, 92p 2009 Cuvée 22, 94p 2010 Fort Ross-Seeview, 86p
There was a huge difference between the two glasses of each wine, except the 3rd wine ("Burgundian style") where there was no detectable difference by us. The early opening made ALL the difference in the World: the recently opened btls were rather bland and the 1 week opened btls behaved like fabulous Northern Rhônes.
The Fight Towards a young Côte-Rôtie with the added sunshine. Still restrained expression. M+ tannin.
Cuvée 22 Towards a young Hermitage in expression. Restrained, M++ tannin and robustly elegant.
Fort Ross Wine from the coldest vineyard. "Burgundian expression". We felt it wanting on the palate, especially the mid-palate. Has nose and mouth of raw wood and Christmas spices, Sweden style. Very young.
All wines very young and will greatly merit keeping. Wife prefered The Fight tonight. We agree Red Car needs to see someone about their ugly labels. Really want to visit the winery.
Winetasting dinner at 1 star La Rochelle in Aoyama (Tokyo).

This has been a long time favorite now. Not quite as powerful as previous vintages. A little more jab and a little less roundhouse right. But great expression of blackberry, blueberry, violets and lavender. A great syrah that just makes you go back to the bottle for another glass.

strong character and finish. Opened nicely in 30 minutes. A bit smokey finish at times but the berry strength clearly comes through. Nice
