  • Finally, this wine got into the zone.
The savory austerity and rugged masculinity melted into the wine to reveal a lovely balanced (and maybe even elegant) beauty.

  • Big wine, no signs of fading. Cork was immaculate. Tar and dark fruit…bold and beautiful wine. Probably should have decanted longer - and probabably had 2-3 years left in bottle.

  • Notes consistent with my previous bottles. Still fresh, with dark cherries in the nose and in the palate. Dense, minerally, with balsamic and licorice notes and coffee beans. Medium tannins, spicy, medium-long ending. Very good Aglianico, still youthful but very enjoyable.

  • LMC has such interesting bottles, thanks for tickling our taste-buds at SKT's Diwali Italian Theme lunch party, with one of my first ever Southern Italian reds. This comes from 100% Aglianico di Taurasi, harvested in part from century-old pre-phylloxera vines. It is sometimes described as the "3rd greatest Italian grape" after Sangiovese and Nebbiolo!

Slightly cloudy, some initial funk on the nose which dissipated after 30 mins. Dense mouthfeel with a medium-full body, I stabbed a guess.. Is this a 15 year BdM?

Sweet cherries are starting to fade, but the grainy tannins are still there after 20 years. What an amazing structured wine! The medium+ acidity makes this still reasonably pleasant to have with heavy meats, such as the delicious Angus Tomahawk Chef LMK prepared from her kitchen.

    Happy Diwali...

(SERPICO Feudi Di San Gregorio) Serpico Dear Friends, Working an extra hour (or three) can pay off and while I was tempted to pack it in for the week hours ago, this deal began to percolate just before we closed and I finally have it set in stone.... After waiting 2-3 years, this wine has finally turned a corner that many thought improbable. It keeps getting better as it rests in the cellar and this is the right time to offer it (they should have waited to release it until now). Once acidic and lean, the 2003 Serpico is a testament to how wine can change dramatically given the right amount of cellar time. Due to limited quantities, that's all I will say (James Suckling was right on the money below - the 2003 Serpico needed time and the years have been very kind): THIS IS NOT AN AUCTION PARCEL OF UNKNOWN ORIGIN OR FROM THE GREY MARKET 2003 Feudi di San Gregorio "Serpico" IGT (Aglianico) Thank you, Jon Rimmerman Garagiste Seattle, WA Italy8988

(SERPICO Feudi di SG) Serpico Dear Friends, I’m running at the moment so this will be brief - the price says it all. I must be honest, this wine has been downright perplexing. I’ve had bottles that were incredible and bottles that were one step above sandpaper mixed with Drano. I tried a bottle yesterday and it finally showed the potential that made this the highest rated wine of the year in 2006 by Daniel Thomases (98+pts). I’ve talked to the powers that be and they know the wine is tannic but they urge everyone to have patience with the Serpico - it needs at least another 5-8 years to come together. We’ll see... ...until then, this is another crazy price that is about the lowest I’ve ever seen on this wine. ONE SHIPMENT ONLY with perfect provenance directly from the source 2003 Feudi di San Gregorio “Serpico” Thank you, Jon Rimmerman Garagiste Seattle, WA Italy7430
