Medium-light garnet red. Dark berries, earth and graphite, it has a certain composure and, although young, it has gained a certain harmony. Also on the palate all components are nicely integrated and is harmonious and silky. But it stays fresh and lively, with subtle tannins on the finish, a touch of bitterness, perhaps graphite. Splendid!

The texture on this wine is really nice, and it opened up well, with the Pinot dominating the character. A bit tart, but very good length. Nice value. Would buy again. 89-90

A private lunch (Restaurant The Royal Oak *, Paley Street, UK): From a one hectare parcel of 85 year old complanted Gamay and Pinot Noir vines on the border of Meursault. Light and floral, silky and seamless, hint of spice, very light tannins, cool minerals balanced by juicy and ripe fruit, gentle but fresh, good length. Develops a more autumnal character with some oxygenation. A mini-masterpiece from an outstanding wine maker.
