This wine opens with a deep cherry-crimson colour and a fine nose of strawberry, dark cherries, touches of tea leaf and bergamot and an attractive spiciness. The palate has opened out nicely with a round ball of dark cherry fruit leading into a well structured palate with good finesse and length. This wine stands out from other Centra Otago wines in its structure and cool restraint.

This wine opens with a deep cherry-crimson colour and a restrained nose of strawberry, dark cherries, touches of tea leaf and bergamot and a slatey earthiness. The palate has a tight ball of lovely fruit and fine tannin that is well balanced but which fails to open and provide true length and poise. Is this a wine that will slowly open and reveal itself like a structured Burgundy ? It will be slow under Diam but other examples of the standard cuvee suggest a positive evolution.

Softer and juicier than the generic Mature Vines blend. A bit simple. Needs time to build complexity.
