  • Quite a well made Pinot noir, but with Burgundian prices one is always left wondering if it is worth it. Pnp. Was reticent at first. Muddy orange red in color. Musty nose. Opened up after a while. Color turned pomegranate red. Notes of cherry, dried rose petals, tobacco. Medium+ acidity, light+ body. At first there is enough oak to notice, but after an hour or so, it recedes and become well integrated. The wine never gets generous with fruit as Pinot Noirs from Oregon or NZ might. It remains reticent, slightly tart, savory, with hints of fruit and oak, all well integrated. It is definitely a well made wine, but at $70 one might expect something more enjoyable. Yes, I know, Burgundian prices, but I continue to think that the emperor (or empress perhaps in the case of Burgindy) has no clothes. I seriously think of all the wine regions Burgundy is most at risk of losing its place of prominence to new world regions like Oregon or New Zealand, that don’t suffer its inefficiencies or avarice.

  • My experience was similar to that of MRP's back in 2016. The wine looks a bit brown at first, but gradually shows more dark ruby hues. It comes across as quite advanced and feels a bit thin, but there is enough sweet fruit and acidity to hold things together and make it enjoyable.

  • Pours thin and almost orange upon opening. Thin, oaky initially. Needed 2 hours to settle in. Nice, dark but lifted by medium acidity. Some earthiness and a bit of fruit and sweetness. A nice effort for this level. Drink now or hold.

  • Initially some wood which covered up the fruit. With some air, the wood quickly resolves and nice bright red fruit emerges on the nose along with a little spice. Palate has nice sweetness, acidity, and length. A bit of wood bitterness remains at the very end but doesn't prevent it from being enjoyable now.
