good level for age, lower neck, totally crumbly cork, colour rather ethereal and distinctly brown, really improved after 3+ hours in the decanter, not recognisably the same wine, initially rather thin and lacking in character, however with time it gained depth and developed a lovely nose with class, finesse and complexity, hints of liquorice, lifted, intense, palate of medium weight but with perfect balance and structure and quite an acidic finish, not atypical of the ‘75 vintage, persistent aftertaste, this is a real case where an initial assessment is proved wrong with development in the decanter, to give it justice this wine needs a minimum of 3 hours after opening, I rather regret consuming too much of the wine before it had a chance to properly develop, lovely classy fine wine with sufficient time
