  • A beautiful bottle of Blaufränkisch. Already showing signs of age and probably will not get any better. Red cherry and oven-roasted plums, very mineral, also some blood/iron notes, funghi porcini, hints of coffee, high acidity, juicy, silky tannins. Very elegant and crisp, reminds me a bit of an aged Chianti Riserva. Lovely wine and based on this bottle I suggest to drink now while there is still fruit. . - 92 points

  • Slightly barnyardy on the nose at first, notes of tar, spices, plums, cherries, cherry stones. Some creamy, smoky oak as well. Really lovely and surprisingly open. Quite soft on the palate, lots of generous juicy fruit, but then ripe and round tannins take over - much tighter towards the finish, also much more mineral. Great length. Quite different to the more structured 2009 Moric Lutzmannsburg Alte Reben and maybe not quite as age worthy, but a great wine with a good future. 91-92+
