This is better balanced than Haart's 2011 Piesporter. It has good structure and is off dry. Notes of spontaneous fermentation, slate and this sweet beauty of Mosel. Lovely wine - what a dryish Mosel should be. Excellent on the second day too.

Seems to have closed somewhat down. On the first day, decanted half an hour, it was very muted. Two days later it is much closer to my first note, with an immensely attractive nose and, apparently, more weight in the mouth. Lovely, but in need of rest in the cellar.

Light pale yellow. Resembles a pinot blanc in the nose with lots of pear, fresh pear and cooked pear, in addition some yellow, ripe apple, smoky elements, a bit flat due to the cooked pear. On the palate better with a nice attack, good minerality, an airy mouthfeel, however a sweetness that doesn't seem to be in place (ripe pear again). Short finish. May get better with time, right now seems overrated.

Although slightly less expensive than Julian Haart's Ohligsberg 2011 this Goldtröpchen of 12.5 % alcohol made more of a impression on me. That might be purely accidental, e.g. related to the food or the mood or metereological conditions or something else. It has the same successful character of a dry or very nearly dry interpretation of the classic off-dry Mosel wines as the Ohligsberg, but it seemed to me to have perhaps a bit more character on the nose with an enticing mix of spicy minerality and a kind of floral opulence held back by citrus. Incredibly attractive taste that together with a Marcel Petite comté extra evoked impressions of cows grazing on flowering Alp meadows. Irresistible.
