  • Brought to drink at Oinoscent during service.
Vines planted in 1961 on loam over clay soil. Handpicked, chilled and pressed, tank fermented, left on lees for a month. Inspired by the great semillon wines of the Hunter Valley.
The wine shows bright clear colour.
The wine shows high intensity in the nose, Riesling-like rubbery notes, pear, citrus and grapefruit peel, with some faint pineapple notes.
In the palate, the wine follows the same flavour profile, lean and linear, utterly dry, green fruit, high acidity, medium to long lime-flavoured finish.
It has more fruit and lacks the smoky element of the Hunter Valley but there is nothing wrong with that. Beautiful and interesting.
On the back label it says "drink 3-5 years", they should have a little more faith in the wine .

  • Has the color of very pale straw. The aroma is rather small, and never seems to open up. There is a touch of sourness, a bit of fruit, and not much else. The flavor is very light, bright, with a little fruit. Dry mouthfeel, with perhaps a touch of minerality in the finish.

Very drinkable, would be good with food where the wine should not be in front.

    Tasted at about 62°F.
