  My end-of-year tribute to my favorite white wine value. I have been buying the "H" Sav-Blanc by the case for the past 7-8 years now....
  
  I think this still has some Semillon to add that extra weight to the wine. For me, this has delivered exactly what it has promised - a tasty basic white that goes seamlessly from the couch to the dining table and can also be consumed outside of summer
  
  I will keep buying this by the case as long as Houge (a) keeps the price point the same, (b) does not lighten it and (c) does NOT add oak

  House white for the past 5 years. Maybe 20 cases consumed (no kidding – it is our “drink a glass while cooking” wine – and more!). Sub $7. Some semillon for viscosity and depth.
  
  Have tried so many different wines – and absolutely purchase other whites when (a) the price is right and (b) the occasion demands. But the “H” (my 12 years old calls it that when he has to get it from the cellar – the cap has a big “H” on it) is trusty and reliable.
  
  As winter approaches (we live in a temperate climate), will typically experiment with something mid-weight…..but with the full knowledge that I have a case of “H” downstairs.

  A great value. Gooseberry, maybe some tart green apple, a bit of citrus (lime?) in there too. Went well with my bay scallop risotto.
