Very good CDP. Dark red to purple. Nose full of red and black berries and tons of spices. White pepper, cedar and smoke. Palate very joinable. Nothing aggressive with smooth tannins and mild acidity. Balance all around. Can easily be compared with much more expensive wines.

Now in perfect drinking window. Big dark cherry/raspberry fruit, damp earth, baking spice, and some tannic structure remaining. I was quite surprised--drinking like a much more expensive wine. Apparently a little higher amount of Mourvèdre than other CDPs, so darker with more structure. A little hot at 15% ALC, but overall a very enjoyable wine. Would work well with grilled meats and salmon.

Drank at Domaine - 50% Grenache noir, 20% Syrah, 30% Mourvèdre. A big step up from the entry level CNDP. With vines beside Beaucastel this really is a wonderful wine at a great price. Nose of Cherry, spice and back fruit. Silky smooth palate with a wonderful depth. Yum Yum

Southern Rhone visit - May 2, 2014; 5/8/2014-5/20/2014: Winery visit- Aromas of cherry, leather, rose petal, spice and melted stone- very expressive. Fine and silky throughout the palate, with layers of blue fruit, mineral, tea, and florals. Very pretty and elegant, and well balanced. Full flavors on the finish. Excellent.

Good herbs and spices and more concentration than the basic wine. Firm tannin. It is probably the 30% Mourvedre which makes this wine quite austere. Try around 2016 or 2017 or later. 91+
