Note 12/30/2015: Most certainly better than the Bushmills Aged 10 Years (based on direct comparison). Note 10/11/2015: Sipping on the last drops of my bottle as I write this. The influence of the sherry casks is considerable and here seems to consist mainly in the briny note on the nose and in the dryness on the palate. See this video here. The rest remains as before: nose could be a 90, but it's the palate of perhaps 87-88 that counts more for me, and thus: 88.
Note 6/16/2015: Over half way through the bottle: once you get over the bitter thingy, it is getting to be a really nice casual sipper that doesn't require too much attention.
From the original note 3/12/2015: Exploring cheap whisk(e)y...not a fan of this style of bitter finish..despite very good qpr (got the 700 ml for less than 19 €) I won't buy again. Yet it is good and goes down like nothing. Phantastic for cooking ! ...goes very well with cheese ... one of the best blended whisky out there ... pretty close to a single malt, being 80% malt whisky. Nice cinnamon-amber color. Nose very fruity, pear, orange, buttery... and some bitter note. On the palate very smooth, a bit oily even (I guess that's triple distilled for you) but then immediately the bitterness again. Altogether not very complex. A sweet passage and then a pretty dry, somewhat dusty, medium finish.
