  Luminous, quite translucent black cherry color with a lighter ruby red rim. The nose is slightly stuffy yet also pleasantly funky and characterful with aromas of red cherries, reductive matchstick smoke, some jammy dark berries, a rustic hint of stable floor and a slightly flatulent whiff of H2S. The wine is moderately full-bodied, ripe and rich with vibrant flavors of juicy cherry-driven red fruits, sweet dark fruits, some aromatic oak tones, a little bit of strawberry, light stony minerality and a brambly hint of blackberry. The wine is velvety smooth yet enjoyably structured with its moderately high acidity and quite ripe and mellow medium tannins. The finish is ripe, spicy and juicy with quite long and enjoyably nuanced flavors of pepper-driven spices, ripe black cherries, some earthy Pinosity, a little bit of brambly blackberry and a touch of ripe raspberry.
  
  A nice, fruity and pretty concentrated Côte de Nuits red with a lot of smooth, ripe fruit and some sense of weight. Overall the wine is quite youthful in style, but perhaps the reductive nose is what makes me think that this wine could benefit a lot from further aging. If opened now, let the wine breathe long enough for the somewhat skunky reductive tones to blow off. This is overall a well-made, enjoyable and polished red Burg.
