Nose: moderate aromatics. Raspberries, cherries. Cola, graphite. Sage. Palate: medium body, well integrated tannins. Moderate acidity and a nice touch of sweetness. Fruit on the palate is more in the blackberry and dark cherry side of the spectrum. There's definite mocha, tar and cigar tobacco, and the graphite appears here, too, along with smoke and iodine. The finish is a bit weak but given the vintage it isn't surprising. Overall a gorgeous profile and a gorgeous example of what Washington can produce in a cold vintage. Remaining bottles should be consumed in the next year. This is an example of a wine that would've benefited from a decision to bottle unfined and unfiltered as that would've fed the finish and kept a bit more body over the years.

Raspberry jam right off the bat, followed by a nice smoky flavor with hints of coffee. Light on the fruit on the palette, lots of earthy flavors with some herbal elements and a bit of oak.

(Baer Star Red Wine Columbia Valley) A moderately aromatic wine with oak spices, coffee, bittersweet chocolate, dark raspberries, and a light herbal note. The palate has delicate cherry and cranberry flavors and smooth, soft tannins with a lingering finish. A thoroughly delicious wine. 87% Merlot, 8% Cabernet Franc, and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon. 14.5% alcohol. 381 cases produced. Sample provided by winery.

Would guess this would improve a bit over 2-3+ years.
