1998 Sori Tildin Sadly I forgot to take notes so I'll give a brief impression. I bought this one a few years ago from someone who was clearing out a celler for their shop in another group. I've had this wine two other times previously via my distributor and was very impressed so I bought a few bottles from this gentleman. The wine had a little bit of fresh fruit left, but most of it bring dry with lots of secondary characteristics earth, tar, leather, medium acidity, softer but noticeable tannins and a nice medium length finish. This seemed to improve quite a bit with air. With that being said I wouldn't hold onto these any longer. A very nice wine for an off vintage.

What an outstanding wine, at its peak and in a wonderful place at this time. To start a ruby red dusky color to it. Gave it about two hours in a decanter to brush any funk. Subtle, red berries mix in with forest floor, moss, truffles and well balanced licorice. Many layers and well integrated. Short finish.

Have loved this wine over the years. This was the first time I felt it was beginning to dry out - traditional Barolo lovers would love this but for me I felt it was time to drink up. Gorgeous black rich sweet fruits still big in the initial attack but fading after a while. Lots of tertiary now, forest floor. Complex and long.
