  • Out of date by CT standards, but a really nice blend of fruit and tannins! Finish was LOOONG!

  • This became the third wine of the night at a recent dinner at Adelles in Wheaton. Encouraged to try it with a filet mignon it proved a success. The colour is intensely dark and inky garnet. Full bouquet of berries and perfumed oak. Nonetheless it was accessible and pleasantly drinkable, not overwhelmed with tannins. Chewy, intense berry fruit, underscoring of spice. Good match with the filet.

NOTE: this was a gift from benchland. Many thanks to benchland for the opportunity to taste this wine.

Tasted May 22, 2006 at home. 14.9% alcohol. Opened and splash decanted about 30-45 minutes before serving in a Spiegelau Authentis Magnum glass. Dark garnet to purple color in the glass, clear hue throughout. Nose of blackberries, smoke, black cherries, plums and maybe a little dried herbs.
Flavors of black cherries, red cherries and red berries. Maybe a smidge of mocha in there on a short finish. Slightly dusty to drying tannins, lively to sharp acidity. Drink or hold short term. Value based on a winery release price of $22.50 a bottle I'd say the value here is recommended. It's getting increasingly difficult to find an 88 point California Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon under the $25.00 a bottle mark thus the recommended value rating.
