This tasted more like Medicinal Mountain than Candy Mountain. There was a horrible aftertaste to this wine, and I could only have a sip. Instead of dumping it, I tried it the next day, and it improved somewhat, but still seemed off in some way. Something bacterial?

Double decanted then sat for 30 min before tasting. Super dark purple/violet, black hue. Charcoal and pencil lead scents. Wine is still super tight, barely yielding black fruits, tar, dark espresso on the palate. Huge structure and major tannins, reminiscent of Red Mountain Cabs, this wine needs another 2 years to settle in, and will easily go another 10, only revealing hints of its future potential at this point.

Drinking beautifully. Age is good. Could go longer. Tannins have calmed down and fruit mellowed.
