Standing for 2-3 months, still fine sediment in the last 1-2oz, decanted off. Medium ruby; aromatic, nutmeg and cinnamon, red cherries, blackberry, a bit darker aromatics than typical for Volnay; medium bodied, elegant medium-plus acidity, low 12.7% alcohol, smoothly textured low-medium tannins that seem well integrated, plenty of primary red fruit, red cherry; finish is medium length. A youthful but well integrated burgundy, showing a bit of the spice aromatics of Volnay though a bit deeper than typical, palate returns to elegance. Enjoyable and well made especially in 2011. Enjoyable now, but seems like it easily has 5-10 years of development ahead of it. 91 1 hour air: As before, lovely balance and aromatics. The acidity on the palate is even more vibrant now, clearly high acidity with just a bit of spritz. Day 2: Certainly still high acid, plenty of youthful red fruits, and low alcohol enough to be an easy drinker. Very nice, but perhaps lacking just a bit of unique character that I would expect at the next level.

Structured and tight right now, but with good potential. Needs food or time right now. Underlying the tannins and acidity is nice fruit and floral notes. Try in 2-3 years.

A big improvement in the last year. This is now much more integrated. Nose is powerful and elegant with lots of stony minerality, combined with ripe cherry and blackberry. Palate is not as impressive as the nose. Some drying tannins and dry finish which will probably improve in a couple years.

good balance of structure and fruit, fairly good value for a burgundy.
