Community Tasting Notes (1) Avg Score: 90 points

  • Brilliant garnet in color throughout. Complex nose of tar, red plums, eucalyptus and ginger. The palate consists of red currants, mocha, and vanilla. Medium bodied, decent acidity, and smooth, silky tannins with a long, complex finish. A bit past its prime, yet showing very nicely.

Update: After about an hour or so, the wine softened into more of bright cherry and cola characteristics. The small amount of tannins shed and became even more supple and smooth. Any "old wine" characteristcs blew off, especially in the nose. After experiencing this wine's complexity and evolution, it deserves between 91-93 pts. overall.
