Decanted just before serving. Excessive cocoa on first pour effectively blitzed acidity and all other complexities for the first two hours. Only in the third hour did acidity, berry fruit and a little graphite show up. Not great, but very enjoyable.

Dull on first decant. Opened over an hour or so to show the acid and fruit. Enjoyed the wine with a flat iron steak, shallot sauce and spinach. Good body although a bit tart and perhaps slightly hot on the nose. Lots of cedar, cassis , blueberry and a hint of licorice and cherry. Topped a good meal. I think it showed probably better than the last bottle a couple years ago but I'd give it the same rating 88pt. A couple more of these to go with steaks would be nice.
