Also from the Garagiste. This stuff is AMAZING. Deep color. Nose is intense dried orange peel, molasses and tar. I would be happy just to sniff this all evening. Mouth-filling and rich. There’s a pleasant bitter note that keeps it from being too cloying (I like bitter flavors). Finish goes on forever. This is definitely something to sipped by the thimbleful. It would be incredible paired with something like a rum-soaked fruit cake or my mom’s persimmon pudding. Comparing the 1979 alongside, this is the far softer armagnac (the 1979 is a dark beast-- amazing but not for the faint of heart).

This particular sample is from the 2016 bottling purchased from Garagiste. Like the previous bottles this displays a medium caramel color and tends toward a medium texture with high alcohol. Caramelized dried orange fruits, sweet spice, and maple syrup flavors. Smooth, and aromatic with a long finish.

All I can do is shake my head reading the other TNs. From the Stores information it seems all of us bought from the same Seattle online retailer, but my bottle sure didn't rise to expectations. I tried over months and with different folks to see if the dank basement notes would subside and they never did and were always too present for me to ignore. Based on other TNs, I have to conclude it was the cork, not the storage conditions or barrels. This was a dud and was finally dumped. An expensive fail.

Like the previous bottle (2014 bottling), this displays a deep caramel color and tends toward a medium texture with high alcohol. Caramelized dried citrus / orange fruits, sweet spice, and rich maple syrup flavors. Smooth, and aromatic with a long, long finish. Far better than most of which is available in the commercial US market.

Bottled on September 29th, 2020.
Did not care too much for this bottling. Tastes more like grappa than Armagnac. Hugely disappointing thus.
48.4% ABV.
