Dark garnet. Brooding, savoury nose, spice laden cassoulet with hints of citrus and rose. Palate quite tannic over the first few hours, very concentrated salinity, an inky, savoury character, still very youthfully austere at the 5 hour mark.

Medium-dark purple red. Subtlety personified on the nose, faint hints of rose perfume, dark cherries and limestone mineralite. On the palate very much a baby in pupal hibernation, raspberries and violets emerge after a couple of hours, and a very closed palate with rather harsh tannin initially quite transforms over 2 hours into something quite feminine, tannins become very fine grained, at its core a very lacy, mineral wine.

A great bottle that’s entered its drinking window. Lifted red fruit, orange rind, crushed bramble, and minerals on the nose and palate. Fairly open from the get go. Excellent acidity which is focused but well integrated. Tannins are lithe with only a hint of powder. Touch of bitterness on the finish, but this is in no way unpleasant. Wish I had more tucked away.

This was the wine I opened to drink with supper before Stannary Street's RAEN tasting of extraordinary whole bunch fermented California Pinots. When tasted afterwards it stood up well against the two blind Burgundies - an Amoreuses from C-M, and a Dujac 1* cru. Perhaps not quite in their league but almost certainly a quarter to a fifth of their prices and I note glowing reviews from 'Pancreatitis' among others in our community.

Initially strong cassis and plum on the nose, but rather closed on the palate. Following an hour dark cherries on the nose but palate remain quite austere. 4 hours later still rather inaccessible, smoke, red fruits, mineralite. Slight green hints and rather astringent tannins. My 4th bottle in 4 years, the other 3 have been superb, I think simply a closed phase at present?
