decanted off the sediment a half hour before drinking. It's near the end of it's life, but shows very well, with classic tobacco, green leaf, gravel, and soil tones that permeate the gentle old dark fruit aromas. It's gentle and fully mature on the palate, showing in a pure and transparent way. It's no longer very potent, but it's just lovely. If I had ore, I'd plan to drink it now.

Château Beychevelle Vertical: Fully mature nose with cool coffee and cola aromas. Soily and rustic earth tones. Quite lively and animalistic as well. Ah, the palate is a touch volatile though. Cool and mild spice throughout. Firmly tertiary and very pretty, but distinctly mature and developed.

Stood bottle up for 5 days prior to opening. Cork was soaked almost completely to the top. Nose was very nice...still had some dark fruit left, but lots of leather, tobacco, earth, and mushroom. A little thin on the palate. Surprisingly, some tannins left. Nice medium finish. The nose was better than the palate. While this wine is certainly past its peak, there is still some enjoyment to be had here. If you have a bottle, I recommend opening it soon.

From a magnum, decanted for 15 minutes and drank over 2 hours.
I was expecting this to be much more over the hill than it was.
Looked great in the glass, very little bricking or water on the rim.
Nose was holding the last semblance of fruit, just a hint of dark red berries, maybe even a touch of strawberry jam. Wonderful mature aromas of leather, tobacco and cigar box.
Surprisingly there was still a little tannin left, just enough to hold it up.
The nose did seem to fade a little after a few hours.
Purchased at an auction for a fairly low price, wish I had another.

smooth; very soft tanins, and an avalanche of fruit and spice; not over time at all
