  • Grei nok, men kanskje litt "flat"?

  • Last tasting of the bottle... previously Coravin. Much more dry than the Sangiovese IGT with which it was tasted. Menthol. Better with food.

  • Definitely smells Italian; menthol, orange, raspberry, boysenberry, leather, ocean, and Bourbon. Smells how a jelly doughnut tastes. Raspberry. Cherry. Salt. Beef. Soil. A touch of raisin. Chocolate. Pepper. Almond extract. Vanilla. Jammy. Blackberry. Tennis ball can. Slightly dry finish. Wood. This wine seems to be improving. Maybe the breathing helps. Rich. Very nice. It may be my epiphany Super Tuscan.

  • The wine was dark ruby in colour and offered dark flowers, ripe red and dark fruit, cocoa, espresso, spices, cinnamon and anise on the nose. On the palate the wine showed ripe red and dark fruit, black currant, cherry, blackberry, plum, cocoa, espresso, spices, vanilla, anise, liquorice and clove, with medium to medium-plus acidity, ripe, medium to medium-plus tannin, some heat from the alcohol, slight bitterness from the oak, a creamy mouthfeel, and good to very good length. The wine was made in a ripe, full-bodied, very oaky style and is of very good quality. I must note, however, that it showed too much oak for my palate. Also, to me the Villa Antinori 2010 (a blend of the same four varietals at roughly the same price per bottle, but with a higher proportion of Sangiovese) was more food-friendly and drank better. I recommend decanting for at least one hour.
