  • I was very reassured by other notes as was not what I expected from a 60 year old bottle. A light gold/orange colour with a dullish nose. It tasted surprisingly fresh and the acidity was clearly keeping it in balance. I was surprised that it still had enough concentration to last but impressed by the balance as much as anything.

  • Given its age I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of this wine. Admittedly it is probably past its best, but it was a beautifully sumptious drink. Deep in colour, it is almost like drinking liquid honeycomb with an underpinning of vanilla and orange. The depth and balance are still excellent with a decent finish. I would have actually scored the wine higher if not for some background flavours which are starting to sour.

  • [Grand Millesime's Bordeaux:The Legendary Years 1928-1961 dinner at Circa Restaurant, Melbourne] Deep orange-amber, good clarity. Modest honeyed botrytis above mature bouquet of poached stone fruits, with barley sugar, crème caramel, toffee & vanilla notes. Mature, soft, fleshy, honeyed & slightly sweet; medium fine acidity in very good harmony. Moderately long, languorous finish. Not as fresh as & more advanced than the preceding '62 Ch. Suduiraut.

  • Rare Wine Dinner (Sydney, Australia): The nose here is enticing, with brown sugar, mandarin, cinnamon and light apricot. The palate has a large dose of sweetness but there is a nice line of acidity and it ends with good length. Ready to drink now.

  • A deepish orangey gold. Very refined nose with apricots and marjoram. Quite big on the palate and a touch rough and ready, though that adds to its interest. This is clearly a bottle that’s in very good condition. There’s lovely balance and a very fine acidity noticeable on the finish. This is a nice wine, notably alive, but a touch simple.
