Cherry plum and raspberry on the nose with an inky, earthiness almost liquorice background. These carry through to the palate supported by a good acidity (med +) and soft tannins. Alcohol is medium and gives some weight but this is all about the refreshing 'austerity' you get in wines from this area. Not the most complex and a tad expensive but this drank well and probably has a few years in it yet.

At once a fun little wine yet somewhat serious. Dark fruit on the nose, with a touch of licorice and maybe a bit of tar. Soft and lovely texture, yet with good acidity a kick of ripe tannins. This seems to demand another year or two to round out, but still very enjoyable today.

Not as much snap as the others but still nice. I'll chalk it up to subpar food pairings.
