PnP, but improved with a bit of air. Medium violet to a watery rim. Notes of dark fruits and earth on the nose. These carry over and intensify on the medium bodied palate along with touches of spice and cola, and balancing acidity. Probably best to drink up in the next year or two.

Boston Wine & Poker, Lincoln, Mass.: Paired with the 2008 Alpine -- this one was a lot more effusive, very exotically spicy, with none of the strawberry or cola notes that often pop up in California Pinots.

Effusive and attractive nose, with plenty of signs of secondary development. Sweet red berry fruit (cherry, raspberry), spice, and autumn leaves in the aromas. The palate is light to medium bodied, silky textured, and has a high-toned acidic streak that sticks out a bit and inhibits the generosity of the palate. The finish is charming and has similarly well delineated flavors like the nose. On the whole, this was one of the better recent Rhys PNs I've opened, particularly for its distinctiveness. It's marked by the acid profile of the vintage, however, and that might not be to everyone's taste.

Nice. Very pretty, almost sedate. Nose that is well present but a bit nondescript.
Better upon opening than an hour later.
