Full and quite complex nose. Very spicy and mature. Hints of brett. Cloves, forest floor, dried cherries and plums. Iron minerality. A bit four-square.
Medium-fullish with ripe dark fruit. Fully mature. Plum and forest floor. Dense, but also a bit robust. Gun-powder, nuts and iron minerality. Slightly robust but good length.
Second time with this wine. True to its pedigree: one of the secone-rate GC's of Gevrey, we recognized the house style of Maison Girardin after a while. Not for further cellaring.

  • Spicy, quite oaky nose, with dark fruit, forest aromas, fir cone. Gun powder minerality. Red berries hidden among the dark fruit. A touch four-square. At the same time - some elegant violet perfume hidden in the toughness and roughness.
Deep, concentrated, powerful palate. Quite tannic. But also densely dark fruited. Forest floor, indish spicyness, more oak, very "fluffy", but maybe lacking some elegance. Power and concentration made us guess GC level Bourgogne. We were in for both Chambertin and Echezeaux.
