I have tasted this wine in 2 occasions recently. The first bottle's cork was seriously degraded, thus doubt lingered on why I wasn't impressed: was it the closure or the wine itself?
Bottle # 2 was opened this weekend and the cork was perfect. The wine showed very similarly, and I was non-plussed even after 2h of air. It didn't show signs of evolution given its 20 years and poor vintage, hinting it was probably not that great 10 years ago either. The core of sour cherry and bright red colour were impressive, however the flavours were simple and the length too short. A very austere wine would be a polite way of saying it was absolutely boring. You can't always win. Drink or wash down drain. 12.5% abv
