Enttäuschender Jahrgang für einen Wein dieser Kategorie. Im Duft schon fehlende Reife offenbarend, ist auch der Geschmack eher schmal und adstringierend, denn edel und reif. Kann sicher noch etwas ausbauen, jetzt in einer schwachen Phase. Mehr old-school als zu erwarten war. 2028-2040 91+

Stole the show at Berry Bros claret luncheon alongside Giscours 09, Talbot 10 and Beau Sejour Becot 14. Impressively open and in its drinking window, but with many years to go.
Immediately rich on the nose with a blend of black fruit, voluptuous with a touch of chocolate and tar? Not green. Delicate tannic grip but lots of mellow fruity richness and a nice chewy mouth feel. Nicely integrated and ready to go! Persistent finish went on a good few minutes. Lovely.

Dark purple, ruby rim. Cassis/blackurrant jumps out on the nose, backed with some vanilla-y sweetness. On the palate, the med+ tannins are reasonably stringy; vaguely med+ acid too. It's a real assault of blackcurrant, with just a hint of a red-fruit (cranberry? cherry?) tang at the end. Generous and pretty open for business, albeit batter with food.

Nice tobacco / fruit profile just after opening, which unfortunately disappeared after about one hour. Still what was left was a well balanced, smooth wine.
